SANTO VS. THE VAMPIRE WOMEN (aka "SAMSON VS. Santo meets Mexican funnyman Capulina in this classic action/ comedy, and the both of them go up against a gang of diamond smugglers and a scientist who creates robot duplicates of the two crime-fighters; this film featured Jorge Guzman in a small role, who was Santo's real-life son and who years later went on to become el Hijo del Santo; Capulina's boss in the film was played by Angel di Stefani, the man who played the Aztec Mummy back in 1957.(IN SPANISH WITH NO SUBTITLES)

SANTO IN THE HOTEL OF DEATH Release date: 1961 Starring: SANTO, FERNANDO CASANOVA, ANA BERTHA LEPE, ROBERTO RAMIREZ, AUGUSTO BENEDICO, WALLY BARRON, LUIS ARAGON, ALEX PARODI.SANTO is brought in by the police to help solve a series of murders at a posh resort hotel, a case that has confounded two investigating detectives (played by FERNANDO CASANOVA and BETO EL BOTICARIO). In Italian giallo-style, the guests continue to turn up dead, and SANTO attempts to catch the killer. In these early films, SANTO shared the action with other protagonists (secret agents, policemen, etc.) but with his massive frame and silver mask, he still manages to steal every scene he's in. This was without a doubt one of the most popular Santo movies ever made, as well as being one of the very few that was eventually dubbed in English for distribution in the USA. Clearly inspired by the 1953 Vincent Price classic "HOUSE OF WAX", this film features a horribly disfigured mad sculptor and his gang of monstrous manservants who look like they stepped right out of an old Universal horror movie! SANTO IN THE REVENGE OF THE VAMPIRE WOMEN Release date: 1970 Starring: Santo, Aldo Monti, Norma Lazareno, Gina Romand, Victor Junco, Patricia Ferrer, Federico Falcon, Carlos Suarez, Fernando Oses, Yolanda Ponce, Frankestein, Beto el Boticario, Alfonso Munguia. A beautiful vampire queen is staked in her coffin by one of Santo's ancestors in the mid-1800's, only to be exhumed and revived to life 100 years later by a mad scientist and his henchmen; the sexy vampire seeks vengeance on the modern-day descendant of the man who killed her. This film's plot resembles somewhat the British Hammer film "DRACULA AD 1972" (made a year later), although it must have been sheer coincidence; this is a very scarce Mexi-horror film, perhaps one of the hardest-to-find titles in the entire SANTO film series.(ENGLISH SUBTITLES)

SANTO VS. THE KING OF CRIME Starring: SANTO, FERNANDO CASANOVA, ANA BERTHA LEPE, AUGUSTO BENEDICO, YOLANDA CIANI, FERNANDO OSES, RENE CARDONA SR. This was the only SANTO film ever to reveal his "secret origin", although many later films in the series did not seem to allude to it. A wealthy old man approaching death reveals to his son that he once was the masked superhero named El Santo, and passes his trademark silver mask and secret crime-fighting laboratory down to the boy upon his death. This film also introduced a faithful butler who aids Santo in his war against crime, very similar to the character of Alfred in the 1960s "BATMAN" TV series. SANTO VS. THE ZOMBIES Starring: SANTO, ARMANDO SILVESTRE, DAGOBERTO RODRIGUEZ, CARLOS AGOSTI, RAMON BUGARINI, LORENA VELAZQUEZ, GERARDO ZEPEDA, FERNANDO OSES & JAIME FERNANDEZ. This was one of the earliest (and greatest) SANTO films made in Mexico in the Sixties; it was followed by 4 dozen other SANTO features over the next 15 years, so it must have been a great hit upon its 1961 release; this film was later released in the USA under the title "INVASION OF THE ZOMBIES"; now you can enjoy this 1961 classic as it was originally intended to be seen, in its original Spanish language format with english subtitles (WITH ENGLISH SUBTITLES)

THE TERRIBLE SNOW GIANT Release Date: 1962 Starring: Joaquin Cordero, Ana Bertha Lepe, Jose Chavez, Elizabeth Dupeyron, David Hayat, Jose Eduardo Perez, Antonio Raxel, Andres Soler In 1962, Rafael Grovas produced a Sci-Fi film called "THE VOLCANO MONSTER", which was about an Abominable Snowman that terrorizes the mountainous areas above a small Mexican village; at the end of the film, the beast plunged to his death from a cliff and the villagers thought that was the end of it; now in this 1962 sequel ("THE TERRIBLE SNOW GIANT"), the Snow-Creature has apparently returned from the dead to once more haunt the Mexican hill country and the frightened villagers must come up with a permanent way to defeat the beast. PLANETARY GIANTS Release Date: 1965 Starring: Guillermo Murray, Adriana Roel, Rogelio Guerra, Jose Angel Espinosa (aka "Ferrusquilla"), Carlos Nieto, Jose Galvez, Nathanael Leon, Daniel Villaran, Evita Munoz (aka "Chachita"), Irma Lozano, Mario Orea. A group of astronauts (led by Guillermo Murray) travel to another planet to save the Earth from being blown up; this is one of the only Sci-Fi space films ever made in Mexico, since this particular genre relied more on lavish budgets than any other; some fans regard the film as a "poor man's Star Trek"; while the sets were still standing, director Crevenna rushed out a sequel the same year, entitled "PLANET OF THE WOMEN INVADERS" , which also starred Guillermo Murray as the leader of the astronaut squadron. THE WHIP VS. This was the 2nd film in a trilogy of Mexican horror/ westerns featuring a Zorro-like character known as El Latigo; in this film, a cult of satanic devil-worshippers is terrorizing the Mexican countryside and kidnaps a beautiful young woman intending to sacrifice her to their Volcano God; don't miss the stunning finale in which El Latigo rescues the girl from the devil cult and has a climactic battle with their evil leader, a demonic dude in a wacky-looking Goats-Head mask! This was an action-packed Mexi-Wrestling film featuring a tag-team of two masked luchadors known as The Angel and Satan (played by Lagarde and Guajardo respectively); it was followed by a sequel the same year entitled "THE CLUTCHING HAND"; the costumes in this series were very flashy and seemed to anticipate such later hit Mexi-Wrestling series as the Champions of Justice and the Santo/ Blue Demon teamup movies of the late Sixties. This film was inspired by the rash of 1950's horror movies dealing with the legend of the Abominable Snowman that were being churned out of Hollywood and British studios around that time; a huge hairy Yeti terrorizes the inhabitants of a small mountain town in Mexico, prompting some courageous individuals to go up into the snowy wastes to track him down; it features one of the most memorable (and goofiest) monster suits in Mexi-Horror history and is a must-see; this film has long been one of the scarcest Mexican horror films to locate (since it was never dubbed in English), and only recently has a really nice print of it finally surfaced on DVD. This was the 3rd (and best) film in a trilogy of Mexican horror/ westerns featuring a Zorro-like character known as El Latigo; in this film, a group of reanimated killer mummies is murdering people in a Mexican town and El Latigo helps a beautiful young woman to protect her family members who are all targeted for destruction by the lumbering creatures; in the stunning finale, El Latigo takes his lethal whip to the mummies, going one on one with their huge 7-foot-tall leader, and sends them all back to Hell. THE CLUTCHING HAND Release date: 1964 Starring: Karloff Lagarde, Rene Copete Guajardo, Claudio Brook, Gina Romand, Chucho Salinas, Maria Eugenia San Martin, Andres Soler, Fernando Oses, Lobo Negro, Picorro, Tito Novarro. This was an action-packed Mexi-Wrestling film featuring Los Endemonadios Del Ring (The Demons of the Ring), a tag-team comprised of two masked luchadors known as The Angel and Satan (played by Lagarde and Guajardo respectively); the costumes in this series were very flashy and seemed to anticipate such later hit Mexi-Wrestling series as the Champions of Justice and the Santo/ Blue Demon teamup movies of the late Sixties; the villain in the film utilizes a scary fake monster hand to intimidate his henchmen and intended victims; a real homage to the beloved American action serials of the 1940's. THE KILLERS OF WRESTLING (aka EL ASESINO ENMASCARADO) Release date: 1961 Producers: Jesus Sotomayor, Heberto Davila Starring: Miguel Aceves Mejia, Joaquin Cordero, Julio Aldama, Lilia Prado, Fernando Oses, Elsa Cardenas, Luis Aragon, Cavernario Galindo, the Blue Demon, the Black Shadow, Gory Guerrero, Picorro, Eduardo Noriega, Baby Bonales. This is a very scarce Mexi-wrestling film made at the beginning of the big '60s Wrestling Movie craze; although it was never dubbed in English nor shown on American TV, it is of particular interest to American Lucha Libre fans because it contained the Blue Demon's very first film appearance (in several scenes, he is shown fighting in the ring with his tag-team partner, the Black Shadow); Los Hermanos Shadow (as they were called) actually defeated the mighty Santo in the ring in the early 1950's, and Blue Demon later went on to star in a wrestling film series of his own that rivalled even Santo's motion picture career. MYSTERY OF THE BLACK WHIP Release Date: 1958 Starring: Luis Aguilar, Rosa Arenas, Rosa Durgel, Consuelo Frank, Federico Curiel, Paz Villegas, Jose Eduardo Perez, Vicente Orona Jr., Antonio Brillas, Victorio Blanco. Many of the greatest Mexi-western/superhero movies ever made were variations on the famous ZORRO theme; El Latigo Negro (The Black Whip) was one of the best-known Zorro clones of Mexican film history, appearing in at least five Mexican westerns from 1957 to 1963. MISTER TORMENTA Release date: 1963 Starring: Julio Aldama, Angelica Maria, Jaime Fernandez, Eric Del Castillo, Sonia Infante, Noe Murayama, Cavernario Galindo, The Black Shadow, Nathanael Leon, Murcielago Velazquez, Rene Guajardo This film was about a Mexican priest who becomes a masked wrestler named SENOR TORMENTA (aka Mister Storm) in order to win money he can use to open an orphanage for homeless Mexican boys; the film encouraged a real priest (the Reverend Sergio Benitez) to take up wrestling in order to save a shelter for homeless children in Veracruz; Benitiz fought under the name Fray Tormenta (which means "Brother Storm"), appearing in more than a thousand matches and winning enough money for his orphanage to house more than 3,000 children; the plot of the new 2006 film "NACHO LIBRE" is based on the real-life adventures of Fray Tormenta, who in turn was inspired by the fictitious lead character in "SENOR TORMENTA". SANTO VS. THE GHOST OF THE STRANGLER Release Date: 1963 Starring: SANTO, Roberto Canedo, Carlos Lopez Moctezuma, Gerardo Zepeda, Maria Duval, Begona Palacios, Alberto Vasquez, Milton Rey, Manuel Donde. Information: A sequel to the 1963 classic "SANTO VS. THE STRANGLER", this film owes much to the American horror classic "PHANTOM OF THE OPERA"; a deformed maniac who was slain by the police returns to life with the aid of his ape-like assistant and haunts the caverns beneath an old theatre; using clever disguises, the Strangler lures his arch-foe SANTO into a number of deadly traps; the film moves at a mind-numbing pace that recalls the old Republic Pictures serials of the Forties; this film was long thought to be a lost film and is very probably the rarest of all the Santo movies! ROCAMBOLE VS. THE CULT OF THE SCORPION Starring: ROCAMBOLE, JULIO ALEMAN, MARIA DUVAL, CHUCHO SALINAS, CARLOS LOPEZ MOCTEZUMA, GERMAN ROBLES, GINA ROMAND, FELIX GONZALEZ. This was the second of two "ROCAMBOLE" movies featuring a colorful masked superhero/wrestler, preceeded by "ROCAMBOLE VS. THE HARPIES". In this second film, Rocambole goes up against the bizarre Scorpion Sect which tries to enlist his aid in conquering the world, but Rocambole decides to reject their offer and destroy the organization of evil assassins. The Rocambole films are very scarce, and most Mexi-movie collectors gave up years ago on hopes of their ever turning up. ROCAMBOLE VS. THE HARPIES Starring: Julio Aleman, Maria Duval, Chucho Salinas, Carlos Lopez Moctezuma, Regina Torne, Gilda Miros, Jacqueline Andere, Victor Junco, Eduardo Charpenel, Miguel Macia, Burdette Zea, Enrique Ramirez, Fernando Saucedo Julio Aleman plays "Rocambole", a mysterious masked superhero who looks a lot like Captain America in a cape; in this film (which was obviously inspired by the then-popular American "BATMAN" TV series), Rocambole is pitted against a gang of incredibly ugly female thieves who are under the control of a scientist who has a youth serum which can temporarily restore their beauty, so long as they do his bidding; lots of fast-paced action and cool superhero fight scenes in this one. THE FLYING SAUCERS Release Date: 1956 Starring: Adalberto Martinez, Evangelina Elizondo, Andres Soler, Famie Kaufman, Jose Venegas, Amalia Aguilar, Bertha Lehar This was a Mexican Sci/fi Comedy made in the Fifties, at the height of the UFO craze; the story involves an inventor and his fiance who build a flying vehicle which they decide to test-fly; when they crash-land in a small Mexican village, they are mistaken for Martians by the ignorant populace; rather than reveal trhe truth, the couple decide to use their "spaceman status" to improve the lives of the townfolk; a really funny and poignant Mexican sci-fi flick! THE PLANET OF THE WOMEN INVADERS Release Date: 1966 (never released in USA) Starring: Lorena Velazquez, Elizabeth Campbell, Adriana Roel, Maura Monti, Guillermo Murray, Rogelio Guerra, Ferrusquilla, Jose Chavez. A group of beautiful female space invaders kidnap Earthmen and experiment on them to better adapt themselves to Earth's environment. This film stars 3 of the sexiest women in Mexican film history; Lorena Velazquez and Elizabeth Campbell were formally paired in the successful "WRESTLING WOMEN" film series, while Maura Monti went on to play "BATWOMAN" in a notorious 1968 Batman-swipe. This film is worth buying just to gawk at the notable Mexican beauties that populate its cast, not to mention that it has never been shown on American TV nor dubbed in English, which makes it a very hard-to-find collector's item for Mexi-movie buffs. NEUTRON VS. THE MANIAC Stars: WOLF RUVINSKI, RODOLFO LANDA, GINA ROMAND, CHUCHO SALINAS, GRACIELA LARA, MARIO OREA, JOSE GALVEZ, RITA MACEDO. This was the fourth in a 5-film series revolving around the superheroic exploits of NEUTRON, The Man in the Black Mask. In this film, Neutron goes up against a sadistic serial killer who films his hapless victims while he kills them. The film appears to have been heavily influenced by the 1960 British horror classic "PEEPING TOM". Wolf Ruvinski played Neutron in all five films, and starred in a number of other Mexican horror films such as "EL LADRON DE CADAVERES" and "SANTO VS. THE MARTIAN INVASION". NEUTRON VS. This is a really eerie Psychological Horror film from the 1950's that was a sort of precursor to the American film "PSYCHO" (1960); a man gets involved in murder and has bizarre dreams about his mother and killing women; Wolf Rubinski later appeared as the star of the Mexican "NEUTRON" superhero film series; this movie is one of the earliest known Mexican horror movies ever made and is a must-see for all Mexi-horror movie fans! THE NEW INVISIBLE MAN Release date: 1957 Starring: Arturo de Cordova, Ana Luisa Peluffo, Augusto Benedico, Raul Meraz, Jorge Mondragon, Jose Chavez, Nestor de Barbosa, Roberto Rivera, Manuel Donde, Enrique Diaz, Emilio Garibay This was a Mexican remake of the famous 1940 Universal thriller "THE INVISIBLE MAN RETURNS"; a young man is convicted of a crime he didn't commit and is sentenced to life imprisonment; his scientist brother manages to sneak into his brother's prison cell and inject him with an invisibility serum, enabling him to break out of jail; the formula has the unfortunate side effect of driving its user insane, however, and before long the Invisible Man winds up going on a wild crime spree; this film has some great special effects for its time and is a definite must-see for fans of Mexican Sci-Fi films. THE GHOST JESTERS Starring: Tin Tan, Loco Valdes, Resortes, Clavillazo, Manuel Alvarado, Maria Eugenia San Martin, Armando Gutierrez, Armando Acosta, Sonia Infante, Carlos Leon, Marcelo Chavez. Information: This has got to be the grand-daddy of all the Mexican horror/comedies, since it stars the four all-time greatest Mexican comedians....Tin Tan, Loco Valdes, Resortes and Clavillazo....all in one film! In this film, Resortes and Clavillazo run a phony spiritism act at a sideshow carnival, but they soon learn that ghosts really DO exist when two mischievous spirits (played by Tin Tan and his real-life brother Loco Valdes) decide to return from the grave and wreak havoc at a carnival; the police blame Resortes and Clavillazo for the ghosts' terrible misdeeds and the two hapless comics are drawn deeper and deeper into trouble; a hilarious horror/comedy with great special effects!
